Journal Description

PedagoScript: Journal of Teaching and Texts (PJTT) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal managed and published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Banten. The journal is published biannually, in January and July, as a medium for the dissemination of academic research and scholarly studies in the field of education.

PedagoScript publishes high-quality academic works that focus on teaching and learning processes, pedagogy, language education, literacy development, curriculum and instructional design, instructional materials, and text-based studies within educational contexts. The journal is positioned within the academic domain of education, particularly in relation to language teaching and learning, and pedagogically oriented text and discourse studies.

PJTT accommodates scholarly contributions in general education, language education, and educational studies integrating technology, provided that such studies are framed within instructional and pedagogical perspectives. The journal does not focus on technological development itself, but on the educational use of technology to support teaching and learning practices.

The journal serves as an academic platform for researchers, educators, scholars, and students to disseminate empirical research, conceptual and theoretical studies, classroom-based research, and pedagogically grounded textual analyses that contribute to the advancement of educational theory and practice at the national and international levels.

Focus and Scope

PedagoScript: Journal of Teaching and Texts (PJTT) publishes original research articles and scholarly works within the general field of education, with a primary emphasis on pedagogy, teaching and learning processes, and instructional practices across educational contexts. The journal is dedicated to advancing educational theory, policy, and practice through research that examines learning, instruction, and educational development in formal and non-formal settings.

The scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

A. General Education and Pedagogy

  • Teaching and learning across educational levels
  • Curriculum development and instructional design
  • Pedagogical theories, models, and classroom practices
  • Educational assessment, evaluation, and learning outcomes
  • Educational policy, management, and learning environment development

B. Language Education and Literacy (Educational Perspective)

  • Language acquisition and literacy development in educational settings
  • Assessment and evaluation of language learning
  • Development and evaluation of language learning materials

C. Text, Literature, and Discourse Studies in Education

  • Textual and literary studies for instructional and pedagogical purposes

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to PedagoScript: Journal of Teaching and Texts (PJTT) undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each submission is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with relevant academic expertise.

Editorial decisions are based on reviewers’ assessments of originality, relevance, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, ethical compliance, and contribution to educational research and practice. The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
The peer review process is conducted objectively, transparently, and confidentially.

 

Publication Frequency

PedagoScript: Journal of Teaching and Texts (PJTT) is published twice a year, in January and July.

 

Open Access Policy

PJTT is an open access journal that provides immediate and free access to its content. Readers are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, and use published articles for lawful purposes without financial, legal, or technical barriers, in accordance with the principles of open access publishing.

 

Publication Ethics

PedagoScript adheres to high ethical standards in scholarly publishing and follows the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Editors’ Responsibilities

Editors evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope, maintain confidentiality, manage conflicts of interest, and ensure a fair and rigorous peer review process.

Reviewers’ Responsibilities

Reviewers are responsible for providing objective, constructive, and confidential evaluations, disclosing any conflicts of interest, and identifying potential ethical issues.

Authors’ Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring originality, accuracy, ethical compliance, proper citation, and transparency in reporting research data and funding sources.

 

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to PJTT must:

  • Be original and not under consideration by other journals
  • Be written in English or Indonesian
  • Follow the journal’s template and formatting guidelines
  • Clearly present research objectives, methodology, and findings
  • Use an appropriate and consistent referencing style as specified in the journal guidelines

 

Copyright Notice

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant PJTT the right of first publication. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.

 

Online Submissions

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s Online Journal System (OJS). Authors are required to register and submit their manuscripts electronically via the journal website.

 

Plagiarism Screening Policy

All manuscripts submitted to PedagoScript: Journal of Teaching and Texts (PJTT) are screened using plagiarism detection software as part of the editorial process.

The journal applies the following similarity standards:

  • Maximum similarity index: ≤ 20%
  • Similarity from a single source: ≤ 5%
  • References, quotations, and commonly used methodological expressions are excluded from similarity assessment

Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds may be rejected or returned for revision, depending on the extent and nature of the similarity.

 

Policy on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)

PJTT allows the limited and responsible use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools for language editing and writing assistance under the following conditions:

  1. GenAI tools cannot be listed as authors.
  2. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and ethical compliance of the manuscript.
  3. The use of GenAI must be transparently disclosed when relevant.
  4. GenAI must not be used to fabricate data, research results, images, or references.

Violations of this policy will be treated as ethical misconduct and may result in manuscript rejection or retraction.

PedagoScript: Journal of Teaching and Texts (PJTT) applies the following author fee policy:

  • Submission Fee: IDR 0
  • Publication Fee: IDR 500,000 or USD 45
