Journal Description

ServeInnovate: Journal of Applied Community Engagement (SJACE) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by LPPM Universitas Muhammadiyah Banten. SJACE focuses on disseminating scholarly works in community service, empowerment, and applied innovations that generate measurable, sustainable, and socially relevant societal impacts.

SJACE serves as a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and community development professionals to publish implementation-based studies, best practices, and applied models that support societal development and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Focus and Scope

SJACE publishes original articles emphasizing applied community engagement and service-based innovation. Topics include, but are not limited to:

Ø  Community service and empowerment programs

Ø  Appropriate technology and innovation for societal needs

Ø  Strengthening Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)

Ø  Digital literacy and community digital transformation

Ø  Village development and rural empowerment initiatives

Ø  Public health promotion and community-based interventions

Ø  Educational outreach and lifelong learning programs

Ø  Environmental sustainability and disaster mitigation

Ø  Social innovation and participatory action research

Ø  Knowledge and technology transfer to communities

The journal prioritizes manuscripts demonstrating clear implementation methods, stakeholder involvement, and measurable outcomes.

Peer Review Process

All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Editorial decisions consider:

Ø  Originality

Ø  Relevance

Ø  Methodological soundness

Ø  Clarity

Ø  Ethical compliance

Ø  Contribution to community engagement

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision. Peer review is conducted objectively and confidentially.

Publication Frequency

SJACE is published twice a year, in December and June.

Open Access Policy

SJACE provides immediate and free access to all published articles under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0). Readers can read, download, copy, distribute, and use the content for lawful purposes without barriers.

Publication Ethics

SJACE follows COPE guidelines and ethical standards for scholarly publishing.

Editors' Responsibilities: Evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit, maintain confidentiality, manage conflicts of interest, ensure fair review.

Reviewers' Responsibilities: Conduct objective and confidential evaluations, disclose conflicts of interest, flag ethical issues.

Authors' Responsibilities: Ensure originality, accuracy, ethical compliance, proper citation, and transparency in reporting data and funding.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to SJACE must:

Ø  Be original and not under consideration elsewhere

Ø  Be written in English or Indonesian

Ø  Follow the journal’s template and formatting guidelines

Ø  Clearly describe implementation methods and community impact

Ø Use APA referencing style, preferably managed using citation software.

Authors retain copyright and grant SJACE the right of first publication under CC BY 4.0.

Online Submissions

Manuscripts must be submitted via SJACE Online Journal System (OJS). Authors must register and submit electronically.

Plagiarism Screening Policy

Manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

Ø  Maximum similarity index: ≤ 20%

Ø  Similarity from a single source: ≤ 5%

Ø  References, quotations, and common phrases are excluded

Ø  Manuscripts exceeding limits may be returned or rejected

Policy on Generative AI (GenAI)

Limited and responsible use of AI tools for language editing and writing assistance is allowed:

Ø  AI tools cannot be listed as authors

Ø  Authors remain fully responsible for manuscript integrity

Ø  Use of GenAI must be disclosed (tool name and purpose)

Ø  AI must not fabricate data, results, images, or references

Ø  Violation is considered ethical misconduct

Author Fees

The journal applies the following author fee policy:

Ø  Submission Fee: IDR 0

Ø  Publication Fee: IDR 500.000 or USD 45
